Centigrade contributes to MedConf in Munich

October 16th, 2009

MedConf, a conference focusing on software- and system-design for medical devices, took place in Munich from Oct 13th to Oct 15th. Centigrade contributed to the conference program with a full-day workshop that was conducted in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE).

The workshop held by Daniel Kerkow (Fraunhofer IESE) and Dr. Markus Weber (Centigrade), covered basic topics of usability in the medical field, such as norms and regulations, as well as introducing the participants to practical methods that are used to evaluate and optimize product usability.

Dr. Markus Weber: β€œThe atmosphere during the workshop was pleasant and participants were very motivated and committed during the practical exercises as well as during the discussions. The detailed and specific questions that were asked reflect the interest in usability engineering and related activities, which exists in the area of medical technology. A piece of information that was presented during the opening keynote further underlined the relevance of usability for organizations that deal with medical technology: 70% of all errors in medical products are usability-related.”

During the three days of MedConf, notable organizations presented their experiences in talks and workshops. The conference program was accompanied by an exhibition of services and products in the field of medical technology.
