Centigrade receives iF communication design award 2010 for touch screen UI

Centigrade today announced that the company is amongst this year’s proud winners of the coveted iF communication design award. A top-class jury chose the company’s entry out of 1678 entries from 26 countries.
Centigrade submitted a project for the category “product interfaces”, which was conducted in collaboration with Centigrade’s client OMICRON electronics. The scope of the project covered conception, design and implementation of OMICRON’s new product CMControl. The CMControl is a mobile touch-screen control unit for OMICRON devices, which are used to conduct testings in the field of energy supply.
Centigrade conceptualized the control unit’s interaction design as well as its screen and icon design. As the targeted user group also consists of electricians with little PC background, the interface needed to be optimized for exceptional ease of use. In addition, in order to live up to the expectations of OMICRON, users who are accustomed to high-quality products, the visual design needed to be aligned appropriately.
Thomas Immich, CEO of Centigrade GmbH: “We are very proud of this achievement, because only a few design agencies are awarded with this prestigious international award. For us, this is proof that the clarity and reduction to the essentials that our team aimed for regarding the touch screen design – with the goal of optimal usability – was successful.”
Stefan Schwabe, Product Manager OMICRON electronics: “Centigrade has proven that they can create outstanding user experiences in the industrial sector. The award fits well into the series of positive feedback by our users that we have received after the release of CMControl. We are looking forward to extending our successful cooperation with Centigrade in the future.”
The award ceremony for the iF communication design award 2010 will be held in Munich on 3. September 2010. Background information on the award can be found at the official iF design website.
