Usability never goes out of fashion – Centigrade at SYSTEMS 2008

October 14th, 2008

The sweeping success of Apple’s iPhone is proof that solutions featuring a well thought out and aesthetical user interface can face up to competition in a hard-fought market – even more: they can give new impetus to a seemingly saturated market.

But not only lifestyle devices such as mobile phones benefit from professional conception and design of their user interface. For business software, too, the user interface has become a competitive differentiator: since users take the availability of required functionality as granted, usability of systems becomes the distinguishing feature.

Usability is more than putting new make-up on an old user interface: from conception, over layout and visual design, to implementation of the user interface, it has to be ensured that the result exactly matches the expectations and requirements of end users. This is achieved by applying up-to-date methods of user interface design and user interface development, which are adapted to the concrete software development process.

At SYSTEMS 2008, Centigrade presents methods and solutions in usability engineering, user interface design and user interface development. Visitors can learn how user interfaces can be tailored to match user expectations and requirements in order to gain a competitive edge. Centigrade offers state-of-the-art methods and approaches and explains how these can be implemented in organizations and existing software development processes.

SYSTEMS 2008 will take place October 21-24 in Munich, Germany. Centigrade can be found in hall A2, booth 516.
