UX Design supports visionary character of the application
Forensic evaluations of the BKA and LKA on weapons and ammunition are tasks with maximum precision requirements. Our customer asked us to redesign the user interface of a radar-based high-end analyzer for the detection of high-speed objects. The new interface should be as visionary as the application itself. In case of criminal offences, complex facts can be simulated in ballistics and used for plausibility checks. The analysis can be used to create a unique fingerprint of the shot and identify whose weapon was fired. The results of these analyses are an essential part of the evidence and thus make an important contribution to solving crimes.
A detailed examination of the usage scenarios showed that different lighting conditions strongly influence the application. For this reason, we have developed a Dark Mode and a Light Mode for the surface, which can be easily switched between by using a toggle switch. Another criterion for optimizing usability: During the analysis, the surface should provide visual feedback on the state of the system that is easily recognizable from a distance and from the corner of the eye. To achieve this goal, we have developed effective motion designs that guarantee a long-distance effect.
