How can UX and agile product development come together more effectively through user stories and thus create better products? Thomas Immich addressed this question in a keynote at MaibornWolff on July 8 entitled “Getting User Stories Right”. The Armadillo Desk<\/a>, our specially developed outdoor office desk, was used as an example in the presentation.<\/p>\n User stories are now widely accepted as an organizing unit among agile software engineers. However, many user stories in agile everyday life are nothing more than dressed up tasks or feature requests. This may be sufficient when it comes to breaking down complexity or tracking “some kind of” progress – but with this understanding, one painfully misses the original point of user stories, which is to keep user needs in mind before, during and after implementation.<\/p>\n In the keynote, Thomas Immich explained why user stories should not only be written by product owners or software engineers and showed how UX managers can initiate more sustainable user stories that make it into the sprint, even if they were created very early.<\/p>\nGetting User Stories Right \u2013 How to bridge the gap between what users need and products serve<\/h2>\n
