The conference focuses on the creation of user interfaces with Microsoft technologies such as WPF or Silverlight. Industry experts show how stylish and easy to use applications can be created that provide great user experiences.
Centigrade contributes a talk on “Truths and myths about resolution-independent user interfaces”. Thomas Immich: “The topic of resolution-independent user interfaces is on everyone’s lips. These are user interfaces that are rendered flawlessly independent of screen size and screen resolution. This is especially relevant for today’s smart phones and tablet devices which come in a multitude of different sizes and resolutions and thus pose challenges for user interface development. Still, there is some confusion as to what resolution independence actually means in practice and how it should be technically supported. Does it, for example, mean that pixel-based design should be abandoned completely in favor of vector-based approaches or is this wishful thinking? WPF and Silverlight as modern user interface technologies provide a good toolbox for creating resolution-independent user interfaces. Mastering that toolbox while being aware of, e.g., its limitations is one of the challenges regarding the development of resolution-independent user interfaces. The topic addresses these issues and does away with overly high expectations regarding WPF and Silverlight but also points out the potential of the two technologies.”
Besides contributing a talk, Centigrade also supports the event as sponsoring partner.
