Young UX professionals usually do not yet have the many years of experience of seasoned experts. To convey practice-relevant knowledge, the German UPA offers the Winter School 2019, a two-day intensive workshop from February 24 to 26 in Wertheim. Experienced professionals from leading companies in the usability and UX sector present a wide range of topics from the field. One of the speakers is Tobias Goelzer from Centigrade, who addressed the topic of “Project Scoping”.

Combining short iteration cycles with long-term business goals

Projects with short iteration cycles, in which teams learn quickly and directly from user behavior, have become the ideal of the UX community in the era of Scrum and Lean Startup. At first glance, however, this approach often seems to stand in stark contrast to long-term business goals. It even raises the question of whether it is possible at all to reconcile business and UX stakes in such a way that both parties can commit to a shared project. In his talk, Tobias Goelzer demonstrates how a joint “Project Scoping Workshop” can make exactly that possible.

Tobias Goelzer - Senior Conceptual Designer

“Especially for UX professionals who cannot yet draw on many years of practical experience, it is important not to lose sight of the bigger picture in their projects. Clean project scoping and the resulting short project cycles make this much easier.”

Who is the Winter School aimed at?

The workshops of Winter School 2019 are aimed in particular at people who have completed a degree in User Experience, are planning to enter the field professionally, or are in their first three years of employment.

If no free place could be secured, the Summer School 2019 in July is available as an alternative, similar to Winter School 2019.
