The most important in 30 seconds

Playful motivation through gamification & Enterprise Gaming – imagine your clients or employees being eager for the chance to use your software.

  • Gamification means: generating added value by integrating playful and motivation-enhancing elements into your software and processes.
  • With the gamification approach, you ignite the intrinsic motivation of your users that is so important for successful work.
  • The ideal zone between excessive and insufficient challenge puts users into the "flow" state – this increases satisfaction and process efficiency.
  • No off-the-shelf gamification: we create and test tailored solutions that fit seamlessly into your application context.

How game principles make our working world more motivating

Users are often held back by software they have to operate but do not want to. We believe that work is done best when the opposite is the case: imagine your clients or employees being eager for the chance to use your software. With the "gamification" approach, we can support you in igniting the intrinsic motivation of your users that is so important for successful work.

Gamification

Gamification draws on concepts and methods from behavioral and motivational psychology, user interface design, and game design. In contrast to "serious games", it focuses on the targeted use of individual playful elements that are applied in a non-game context.

Enterprise Gaming

Serious games deliver added value through a complete game. Deployed as Enterprise Gaming, they become an effective lever for cultural change and compliance projects in your company.

Personalized gamification

What motivates people when playing varies from individual to individual – our scientifically grounded Playertype test shows which direction of playful motivation suits your users.

Gamification is only one way to playfully bring more motivation into your company. With a new kind of service, we go one step further. Draw on our experience in developing special serious games for companies and finally gain an effective lever for your cultural change and compliance projects. We channel our Industry 4.0 and UX engineering experience to deliver a scalable, maintainable, and stable game system that draws on relevant data from your company's own big data pool and advances your corporate culture. We call this 'Enterprise Gaming'.

On the way to the optimal experience

Our gamification design process puts your users and their needs at the center in order to create the best possible experience. Let us work together to find the ideal zone between excessive and insufficient challenge that enables your users to reach the so-called "flow" state. This kind of process optimization is reflected not only in higher user satisfaction but also in increased process efficiency.

UNTERFORDERUNG ÜBERFORDERUNG FLOW

Personalized gamification

What motivates people when playing differs from person to person and from group to group. Following a scientific study, we therefore developed a test that lets anyone determine their personal player types themselves. This makes it possible to find out which direction of playful motivation should be taken for a specific user.

Motivation on the assembly line

Monotonous assembly line work can lead to cognitive fatigue and thus to an increased number of operating errors. These lapses can not only adversely affect machine throughput but also create tangible hazards in the interplay between human and machine.

Centigrade developed engaging user interfaces for production stations that optimally support users in their process and challenge them cognitively without overloading them.

Gamification for Industry 4.0

Realizing connected production in Industry 4.0 comes with a number of pitfalls. Vast amounts of data accumulate that must be collected, analyzed, and filtered for their importance to the user.

Using a combination of a real camera image and an overlaid 3D user interface, Centigrade was able to optimize the control and monitoring of autonomous vehicles in production halls for SEW-EURODRIVE, protecting users from being overwhelmed by information overload.

The fascination of flow: what potential do games hold?

At Centigrade, we place great value on research-oriented studies to validate our assumptions and gain new insights, which we then apply in client projects.

To gain more knowledge about the flow experience, Centigrade conducted a study together with Electronic Arts, one of the world's largest producers of digital games, examining the emotional experience of playing Need for Speed.

Our expertise – your benefit

Over the past years, Centigrade has made a name for itself as one of the pioneering German companies in implementing outstanding gamification solutions. This is also shown by our press review on gamification, which includes numerous reports from leading print media and television.

Some of my colleagues were initially skeptical about gamification. During Thomas's seminar, we then realized: the concern was not unfounded, as there is a lot that can be done wrong in practice. As a result, we took away valuable methodologies and practical examples. The gamification skeptics among us were partly won over, and for the enthusiasts, the discussions offered a good basis for further decisions.
