Bringing Augmented Reality to the Smart Factory

How the 'DeepSight' User Interface Concept makes AR usable

Bringing Augmented Reality to the Smart Factory

Easier monitoring of industrial machines with the help of AR

Augmented reality (AR) is attracting a great deal of interest, but the technology is still in its early stages. How can its potential be used in actual industrial production? Together with Festo, Centigrade explored initial possibilities at an early stage. Using a virtual reality setup, we developed a user interface concept that demonstrates how AR can create real added value in production halls.

The scenario: by wearing AR glasses, shift supervisors in Festo production halls can remotely see what each machine is working on, its current progress, and whether all tools are functioning correctly. Direct interventions in production and error correction are also possible.

Monitoring industrial machines with AR

The DeepSight user interface concept demonstrates how augmented reality makes relevant information available where it is needed and simplifies the monitoring of complex machines.
