At Centigrade, we believe in user experience as a driver for great technology - not vice versa. We think that when a software tool is perfectly aligned to its users' needs, it may change the way users think and collaborate. Whenever we support our customers from diverse industries in developing innovative user interface designs and technologies, we want to reflect this very philosophy. In our agile software projects we realize outstanding user interfaces with XAML and C# for Windows Desktop (WPF), Windows Store (WinRT), Windows Phone apps and many more.

Key Responsibilities

Your mission as XAML Design Engineer is to fully concentrate on the user interface and its Look & Feel to bring the software to the next level. Your key responsibilities are:
  • Cherishing a clean coding style with XAML and C#
  • Proficient with the MVVM architectural pattern, knowing all its great benefits (and few misfortunes)

  • Not intimidated by sophisticated UI design concepts which come up with gesture control, animations and responsive design. These trigger your ambitions!
  • A natural team player and you like to communicate
  • Quick on shifting levels from big picture to smallest detail, from problem to solution, from holistic to focused approaches and vice versa
  • Creative in finding solutions and like working on a white board - instead of using digital media all the time
  • Experienced with and committed to agile development - SCRUM(But), Continuous Integration, Sprints, User Stories, Estimation Poker, you name it

Further Prerequisites

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems or related fields
  • Fluent in written and spoken German and English
  • If possible, meaningful work samples (including code snippets, blog articles or other documentation

  • A dog
  • Boxes stuffed with Lego
  • Much more!

Position

Senior Product Manager for XamlBoard (m/f)

Philosophy

At Centigrade, we believe in user experience as a driver for great technology - not vice versa. We think that when a software tool is perfectly aligned to its users' needs, it may change the way users think and collaborate. Whenever we create a software tool ourselves, we want it to reflect this very philosophy.

XamlBoard Product Description

In order to develop software with an outstanding user experience, it is essential for UI designers and developers to work together smoothly. In this respect, XamlBoard is a game-changing tool that boosts team collaboration when it comes to developing Windows-based apps or HMIs. It allows designers to attach meaningful metadata to XAML resources in order to create corporate UI style guides that in turn assist developers to rapidly build screens in a consistent and harmonic way.

Key Responsibilities

Your mission as product manager for XamlBoard is to embrace the product proposition and bring XamlBoard to the next level. Your key responsibilities are:
  • Take ideas from UI designers as well as XAML developers and make their everyday UX process easier
  • Sketch wireframes, evaluate them with potential users and delegate work to your visual design mates to convert mockups from lo-fi to hi-fi
  • Take part in team activity planning as a Product Owner in a SCRUM-like development process
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with software vendors so that they promote their components through XamlBoard
  • Get in touch with the Microsoft tooling team to foster a clear positioning of XamlBoard in between Visual Studio and Blend
  • Blog and tweet product insights and communicate important material in the XamlBoard community portal
  • Visit conferences and give session talks to evangelize XamlBoard in the XAML and UX community
As you need to deeply understand both sides of XamlBoard's user base - UI designers as well as UI developers - it is essential for you to feel confident with the entire XAML ecosystem, putting a strong focus on WPF and a potential "universal XAML" dialect.

Passions and Communication Skills

You have to be able to inspire people - not just initially but sustainably. Under this precondition, you are:
  • Passionate about realizing stunning visual designs and smart interaction designs
  • A natural networker and team player
  • Quick on shifting levels from big picture to smallest detail, from problem to solution, from holistic to focused approaches and vice versa
  • Experienced with and committed to agile development - SCRUM(But), Continuous Integration, Sprints, User Stories, Estimation Poker, you name it
  • Trusting your gut feeling, eventually followed by direct actions and communications

Programming and Tool Skills

As you are a product manager in the domain of software development, you should possess a strong knowledge of programming and tools, so that XamlBoard integrates smoothly with existing ecosystems as well as with state-of-art "developer thinking". You are:
  • Deeply knowing and loving WPF for its close-to-limitless possibilities in terms of UX improvements
  • Keen about clean code with XAML and C#
  • Proficient with the MVVM architectural pattern, knowing all its great benefits (and few misfortunes)
  • Confident with Git
  • Experienced with high-quality XAML templates for all sorts of controls, being them standard, custom or third party
Finally, being enthusiastic about programming for Kinect, playing adventure games, reading comics and constructing Lego is not a must-have but a big plus, as it tells stories about you :)

Further Prerequisites

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems or related fields
  • 3+ years of work experience
  • If possible, meaningful work samples (including code snippets, blog articles or other documentation)

Perks

  • Brand new state-of-the-art office space - overlooking our beautiful University forest from the 10th floor

  • Flexible working hours
  • 100% overtime compensation (and yes, travel time is overtime)
