Bringing Augmented Reality to the Smart Factory
How the 'DeepSight' User Interface Concept makes AR usable
Simplified monitoring of industrial machines with the help of AR
Augmented reality (AR) inspires desires for smarter production, but the technology is still in its infancy. How can its potential be unlocked for actual productive use in Smart Factories? In a cooperation with Festo, Centigrade explored possibilities in 2016 already. A virtual reality setup was created to develop an operating concept that shows how AR can bring real added value to manufacturing facilities.
The scenario: by wearing AR glasses, shift supervisors in Festo's production halls can remotely see for each individual machine what it is currently working on, how far it has progressed, and whether all tools are working faultlessly. Direct interventions and troubleshooting are also possible.
