We would like to invite you to the webinar hosted by Testing Time, where we will present the latest findings on accessibility in the digital world. We interviewed five visually impaired people about their experiences with the Deutsche Bahn app. The feedback was clear: there is still a lot of work to be done in the area of accessibility, especially in light of the upcoming Accessibility Improvement Act.
The Importance of Accessibility in Digital Products
Accessibility in digital products is essential today and should not be considered an afterthought. Unfortunately, despite growing awareness of the issue, it is still not treated with the necessary conscientiousness. Accessibility not only affects people with disabilities, but improves the user experience for everyone.
Digital accessibility means that websites, applications, and other digital products are designed to be used by all people, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities. This includes people with visual and hearing impairments, the elderly, and people with temporary limitations such as a broken arm.
Accessibility by law
The Accessibility Reinforcement Act is about to come into force, setting out further rules and requirements for digital accessibility. Companies that do not make their digital products and services accessible risk not only legal consequences, but also the exclusion of a considerable segment of the population from using their services.
The benefits are many: accessible digital products offer a better user experience, reach a wider audience, and promote a positive corporate reputation. Investing in accessibility also contributes to innovation and sends a strong message of social responsibility and inclusion.
